This listing features a scarce Gwendolyn by Monika, Limited Edition 30/35 Signed 1999 Porcelain Soft Body One Of A Kind Doll. Sculpted, hand painted with original clothing and Certificate of Authenticity. Approximately 16". Cream lace over forest green dress and pants. In mint condition.

Gwendolyn is a dark eyed beauty which typifies the style of the small edition dolls of Monika Mechling for her doll company simply named Monika. Gwendolyn's dark brown hair with dark brown eyes are her most salient features, as well as her backward glance over her left shoulder, which expresses something deeply feminine and even mysteriously so. Gwendolyn is made of porcelain, with soft body, and stands 20 inches. She is dressed in rich deep green satiny fabric and lace over. This item was produced in a small limited edition of 35.
Monika's limited edition dolls are done almost entirely by the artist herself, with some associate help with the constructing of the bodies and the sewing of the gowns. Her editions are always very small. Whether a one of a kind or a very limited edition piece, Monika dolls are renown for their expressive femininity and beautifully Art Nouveau style.
